our weekly rhythm
Most of what shapes our community happens in the unscheduled times. However, here’s a snapshot of the regular rhythm of life at Missio Dei:
Sunday evenings at 5pm, we gather together at Clare House (2717 8th Street S in Minneapolis), one of our community houses. The evening starts with an Agape Feast (the early church celebrated Eucharist with an entire meal). After the meal, we continue in our Oratory (the place for prayer and worship above the garage at Clare House) with a time of singing, prayer, reflection, and silence.
Wednesday nights at 6:30pm we have an open meal. That night we make a large meal and welcome everyone to dinner. Our Wednesday night meal is at Sattler House (3312 31st Ave S in Minneapolis).
We have meals Mondays through Thursdays, but times and locations vary. You are welcome to join us for dinner on a weeknight; please contact us before visiting.
On Saturdays from noon to 4pm (during the warmer months), we have our Hospitality Train. The idea is simple: we load up our bike trailers and bring fresh ingredients and high quality portable cooking equipment to feed people good food. Along with food preparers/servers, we are sometimes joined by musicians who will play as we serve food. A variety of people from all over the neighborhood come to our weekly feeding for good food and friendly conversation. During the winter months, we close the Hospitality Train to focus on other (indoor) projects.
Currently, we do not have fixed times for prayer.
